Volunteers are wanted to help plant new trees in Hallr Wood near Charlton Mackrell later this month.

The Woodland Trust, which campaigns for the preservation of Britain’s woods, has donated saplings as part of a scheme to improve the wood’s diversity.

Each of the trees being planted are native broad-leaved species which will compliment the current varieties.

Woodland Trust spokesman John Tucker said: “Planting trees is a fantastic way of bringing together groups of people who want to improve their local environment, learn more about wildlife or create a lasting memorial for those who have made a mark on their community.”
