Co-founder Jon Berry has been appointed as managing director of environmental consultancy Tyler Grange. He supersedes his fellow co-founder Simon Ursell, who has moved into the position as chair.

The two set up Tyler Grange 14 years ago alongside Julian Arthur, who will retain his role as technical director. It has since become a B Corp, renowned for adopting a four-day week for its 100-plus-strong team.

Berry, who was previously in the role of sales director and director of people, places & purpose, will now be responsible for developing the consultancy’s commercial, people and ESG strategies. He says becoming managing director is a “challenge that I welcome. It’s pushing me out of my comfort zone to lead Tyler Grange into the next phase of our journey.”

As part of developing is non-executive portfolio, Ursell has become chair of the firm and will continue to work with Tyler Grange two days a week. His other two working days will be spent working with other SMEs to ‘embed transformational change’.

“I’m very much looking forward to having a different role and focus, whilst taking what I’ve learnt – from our successes, the mistakes we’ve made and the challenges we’ve overcome – to help other business leaders to discover what they can also achieve,” says Ursell.

Tyler Grange employs over 100 people across its seven-strong UK office network. It’s a member of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on ESG, the Better Business Network and supports the Better Business Act.
