Council officials are felling trees in a bid to stop people using protected wildlife areas in Twigmoor Woods.
Following a concerned individual getting in touch with the Scunthorpe Telegraph, North Lincolnshire Council revealed it is blocking these paths to “protect wildlife”.
A spokeswoman for the local authority said: “People have been accessing areas in Twigmoor Woods that are being kept quiet for wildlife. “Therefore, we are felling trees in these areas across the paths to protect the wildlife.
“All the other paths through the woods that the public have a right to use are still available.”
