Trees to be felled ahead of High Street footbridge work

Two trees are to be felled this weekend as preparations for the building of the new High Street footbridge get underway.

The trees will be removed by Network Rail, who are overseeing the project to provide a bridge over the nearby railway crossing.

They are situated outside British Heart Foundation but need to be cleared to allow work to start.

To minimise disruption, the felling will be carried out overnight on Sunday, between 9pm and 6am.

The completed bridge will allow 24-hour access to the crossing for pedestrians and cyclists with no need to wait for rail traffic to pass. Lifts will be provided on both sides.
