The Arboricultural Association and London Tree Officers are hosting a Tree Study Day on the 8th of July, which is set to draw attention to the ‘underrated’ elm tree.
The event, set to take place at the Preston Bowls club, will be unique in its outlook as one of the few study days focusing specifically on the Elm Tree. The event is set to include various information sessions, as well as a walking tour of Preston Park’s elm trees. Highlights for the day include a discussion of the history of elms in Brighton and an overview of the National Elm Collection.
The event is sponsored by David Archer Associates Arboricultural Consultancy, who will be providing refreshments for the day.
The principal consultant of David Archer Associates, David Archer, shared: “We have always taken a keen interest in Elms – an underrated tree unfairly blighted by Dutch Elm Disease. We are keen for the message to get out to a whole generation of arboriculturalists who may never have seen Elms of any size, much less worked on them, or more importantly planted them.”
