i-Tree – Presentations from the seminar at Barchams, organised by Kenton Rogers and Keith Sacre on the 8th October, can be accessed from the link at the foot of this story.
The seminar which was extremely well attended looked at case studies of i-Tree projects across the UK, Australia and Strasbourg with talks from those involved. Forest Research also presented the position in respect of the development of the software for UK users.
Further information in respect of i-Tree Eco will shortly be made available to ensure current projects are shared, and access to UK specific data is open and easily accessible. This later is planned for Quarter 1 2015. By way of background the results from i-Tree models are used to advance the understanding of tree and forest resources; improve urban forest policies, planning and management; provide data to support the potential inclusion of trees within environmental regulations; and determine how trees enhance human health and environmental quality in urban and rural areas. It is currently used in 118 countries including, most notably, the USA, Canada and Australia.
