Members of staff from Knight & Lee in Southsea joined John Pounds Memorial Unitarian Church for a tree planting in celebration of John Lewis’s 150th anniversary.

John Smith, general manager, said: ‘As we have a long association with John Pounds Memorial Unitarian Church, it seems a fitting way to mark our John Lewis 150th year by the donation of a commemorative tree. It will be nice to see it grow and develop in the years to come.’

Martin Whitell was a department manager at the Southsea store for 19 years.

He is now a minister at the John Pounds Memorial Unitarian Church.

The Rev Whitell said: ‘Portsmouth Unitarians are delighted to have the tree in their peace garden and I am sure that John Lewis and we will continue to work together.’
