Applications for Pro Landscaper’s 30 Under 30: The Next Generation, in association with Green-tech, will close in six weeks.
The initiative has helped shine a spotlight on the professional excellence of young people working in the landscape, horticulture, arboriculture and garden design sectors.
Previous winner George Trott
Since the award ceremony began in 2015, it has seen 300 winners. One of the 2020 winners in the arboriculture sector was George Trott.
Trott told Pro Arb in 2024 that he entered the tree care sector by chance while working on a holiday park. “I saw tree surgeons swinging with chainsaws and thought, I need to do that!”
While working for Tony Benger Landscaping, he began studying arboriculture and developed an Arboriculture Association-approved department at Benger’s before branching out solo.
As a 2020 Pro Landscaper 30 Under 30 winner, Trott credits the award with boosting his confidence in undertaking new projects during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since winning the award, Trott has launched his business, G. Trott Tree Consultancy. It offers tree surveys, risk assessments, and woodland management across Southern England. He has also created online courses to improve public tree knowledge.
His advice? “Don’t be afraid to fail. Try as many new things as you can and soak up as many lessons as you can along the way.
“If you’re passionate about something, chase it, don’t worry about what anyone else may think of you. And remember, if in doubt, another coffee will definitely help!”
