Tollgate Primary School kicked off their tree planting day with an assembly introducing the trees, followed by a lesson in the many benefits that trees have on the planet. Lessons were held throughout the day discussing tree lifecycles and the many uses of trees.
Small groups of children from all year groups worked to plant the young saplings.
Jo Quittenton, who leads the school’s outdoor learning programme, said: “They were amazed to discover that a harp came from bark.
“The children were very inquisitive, engaged and a tremendous day was had by all.”
