Scotland-based Cheviot Trees has announced the acquisition of land adjoining its Scottish Borders production site.
A direct response to the surging demand for cell grown stock, the multi-generational family owned forest nursery has made this major investment to take the next step in nursery technology and innovation.
The additional land will host growing facilities intended to further refine precision-controlled environments by integrating robotics, irrigation systems and enhanced environmental monitoring.
Harry Few, managing director of the nursery comments:
"We are seeing a sustained increase in demand for cell grown stock as our customers recognise the reliability and performance it offers. By expanding our production footprint, we aren't just growing more trees; we are investing in the infrastructure and technology needed to produce the resilient, high-quality stock required for the next generation of British woodlands."
The company also believes that the expansion will reinforce its role in supporting environmental targets and woodland creation.
