Chichester Tree Wardens have begun urging locals to water trees to keep them alive amidst a lack of rainfall.
Last month, Chichester trees received less than 2cm rainfall, with March also offering below average figures.
In turn, the local tree wardens have noticed that new street trees - those planted within the last three years - are struggling after the second drought in as many years.
Florence Park and Parklands green both benefit from tree watering groups who meet once a week during the summer to give trees 30 - 40l of water.
A new tree can cost the local council up to £1,000 to buy and plant, therefore helping trees to thrive makes the most of that investment, explains the wardens.
Chichester Tree Wardens are also hosting several events, including Explore Trees in Litten Gardens, a tree talk with Tree Council's director of trees, Jon Stokes, and a volunteer-based tree guided walk for Friends of Bishop's Palace Garden too.
