In November 2023, Kacper Nowakowski was announced as the Land-based and Environment Learner (LBEL) Awards winner for Arboriculture.

Nowakowski has been studying at Reaseheath College, where he is undertaking the Level 3 Advanced Technical Extended Diploma in Forestry and Arboriculture.

Pro Arb and land-based training body, Lantra, caught up with Nowakowski to discuss how his studies and career trajectory has changed since winning the LBEL Award.

What did it mean to you to find out you had been nominated for an LBEL Award and to be selected as a finalist?

“It was a very honourable feeling knowing my hard work has been noticed and to even be considered a nominee for such a great award is an achievement in itself, let alone winning it.”

What did it mean to you to win the LBEL for the Arboriculture, Forestry, and Woodland Management category in 2023?

“Winning the LBEL for the arboriculture category was such an unreal feeling: showing all my hard work, dedication and more importantly my unconditional love for the industry had paid off in a major way.”

What impact has winning the LBEL Award had on you since the ceremony in 2023?

“The impact was quite significant for myself which pushed me even further on my quest for knowledge and experience more importantly it pushed me to inspire up and coming students within the industry to push themselves past their goals and to achieve greater things.”

The 2024 nomination window for the LBEL Awards has been extended to 11:50pm on Sunday 30 June 2024, with winners to be announced at the National Conference in Birmingham on 21 November.
