The Institute of Chartered Foresters (ICF) is joining up with Confor and the Forestry Commission to lead the online conversation in relation to the forthcoming APF Show, 18 – 20 September in Alcester. ICF will be hosting a Twitter wall at their exhibition unit (E9b), displaying tweets that use the hashtag #APF2014. Similar feeds will be on display on screens at the Confor exhibit and seminar tent.

Visitors can tweet about the show using the #APF2014, to share their thoughts on the event, connect with other attendees, and even ask questions during the seminar events. Those who are not able to attend the event can also take part in the conversation, and follow the action as it happens. Users’ tweets will appear on three 42” screens, supplied by Cos Group.

Forestry Career Information

In addition to the Twitter wall, ICF’s APF exhibition will be offering free refreshments and advice on forestry and arboricultural careers and paths to membership. The ICF stand will hold information materials about ICF-accredited courses, and staff and professional members will be on hand to answer questions on routes into the industry.

Russell Horsey, Deputy Director at ICF said: “The ICF team always looks forward to APF, because it’s a unique opportunity to touch base with both our existing members, many of whom will be in attendance, and young people that may be interested forestry or arboricultural careers.

“ICF have done a lot of work this year on promoting forestry careers through a variety of online and offline media. We hope that young people will visit our stand with any questions they might have, but alternatively, get involved in the online conversation.”

Plant a Tree for EST

Finally, the ICF stand will also be selling cell-grown trees, supplied by Christie-Elite Nurseries, to benefit the Institute’s charitable fund, the Educational and Scientific Trust. These funds are distributed via small grants throughout the year, supporting events and initiatives that aim to advance education in all aspects of forestry and arboriculture.
