Camborne Town Council has appointed Matthew Odgers as tree warden for the parish after he came forward and volunteered his services for free.
The Tree Warden Scheme is a national initiative to enable people to play an active role in conserving and enhancing their local trees and woods. The scheme was founded and is co-ordinated by the Tree Council and sees local wardens work closely with tree officers and conservation bodies.
Councillor Jacqueline Merrick, chairman of the amenities committee, welcomed Mr Odger’s offer to act as guardian to Camborne’s trees. “The town council treasures our trees and woodlands which are essential to creating a clean, safe and beautiful environment for all to enjoy and for future generations,” she said. “We look forward to working with Mr Odgers to preserve trees and facilitate tree planting in the Camborne parish.”
