Nuisance neighbours have been causing a giant problem for some Hemel Hempstead residents. But the problem isn’t anti-social people, it’s overgrown trees which are pushing into fences and blocking out sunlight in Jupiter Drive, Highfield.
Pensioner John Wade, 82, says branches and swelling roots have caused damage to his greenhouse and sheds over the years.
He said: “I think they should be taken down because it is depriving people along here of light.”
He complained to county councillor for Hemel Hempstead St Pauls Ron Tindall, who said the trees were planted at nearby Elara House 30 or 40 years ago, but are now beginning to be troublesome.
Emma Crump of Hightown Praetorian and Churches housing association, which owns the building currently used as a retirement complex, said: “We have identified a number of trees in the grounds of Elara House which are over grown and need reducing in height and width.
“We have already requested quotes for this work, so the work will be started as soon as the details are confirmed.”
Mr Tindall says he will continue to liaise with Hightown and keep Jupiter Drive residents up to date on the progress of the works.
