A webinar will be held next month to offer insight into a new project which aims to increase the resilience of the UK’s woodland.

Funded by UK Research and Innovation, DiversiTree hopes to build on the existing understanding of methods to achieve more diverse tree species composition in woodland, as well as the impacts of doing so.

The project will focus on woods dominated by Scots Pine and Sitka Spruce, two “economically important” tree species facing threats from pests such as Dothistroma (needle blight), Ips typographus (spruce bark beetle) and climate change.

The collaborating institutes on the DiversiTree project are The James Hutton Institute, Bangor University, Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, RSPB, The Woodland Trust and The University of Birmingham.

The free webinar – Diversifying Woodlands to Increase Resilience – will be held on 25 May at 12pm for one hour. To book a place, click here.
