Forest for Cornwall has announced it has been awarded four more years of funding from the Defra Trees Programme.

The funding award is a national endorsement of Forest for Cornwall's approach to supporting and financing tree planting.

"With these funds we can continue to support communities, farmers, landowners, businesses and organisations to plant trees to increase productivity, sustain the local economy, and mitigate the effects of our changing climate," says the organisation.

Overall, Forest for Cornwall has planted more than two million trees in an array of projects across the county, including 825 hectares of new woodland. 1,259 urban trees have also been planted.

The additional funding should help the authority reach its target of 8,000 hectares of new tree canopy by 2035.
