Emergency crews have been praised, after quickly clearing over 60 trees that came down in strong winds over the weekend in Buckinghamshire.

Transport for Bucks (TfB) emergency crews were out straight away to get clear the trees and are also on standby in case of more emergencies this week.

The speedy response attracted praise at Monday’s Cabinet from County Council Leader Martin Tett who had called them to a fallen tree across a main road.

And Resources Cabinet Member Peter Hardy paid tribute to their efforts in clearing a fallen tree near his home.

During the past weekend TfB fielded four emergency crews in the south of the county, while two crews took care of fallen trees in north Buckinghamshire. Normally two crews cover the county.

Ruth Vigor-Hedderly, Cabinet Member for Transport, said her operations team had planned extra crews in response to the severe weather:

“They’ve done a fantastic job, and I’m very grateful.

“I’m really impressed by their speed and professionalism in getting our roads cleared of fallen trees – and quickly!”
