Council to remove dangerous trees

WORK to remove 13 poplar trees in West Park, Long Eaton, will begin next month in the second phase of a project to create a new-style avenue.

The poplars are situated alongside the play area and a survey has confirmed the trees, which are well past their natural lifespan of 60 to 80 years, have become brittle and dangerous.

Once the poplars have been removed, Erewash Borough Council will undertake additional tree planting in the park this autumn and winter and again next year.

A new avenue with a UK woodland theme was installed last year.
