Connick Tree Care on why the company is thriving

Employee-owned arboricultural contracting and consultancy company Connick Tree Care says its continuously evolving to enhance customer experience, after notably picking up Arboriculture Company at the Pro Landscaper Business Awards for the third time.

Founded in 1985 by its now-chairman Michael Connick, Connick Tree Care puts its staff and training at the forefront of the buisness. Employing nearly 80 employees and serving commercial and residential clients across the southeast of England, the company also works with leading government and local bodies such as English Heritage, West Berkshire County Council and charity The Royal Parks.

Now led by managing director Dan Pennington, the tree maintenance company operates “a good team ethos,” he states, which derives from every employee’s desire for the company to do well. That means putting “customer service as our number one priority,” he adds.

From being proactive to providing the best value for money, the team “goes out of our way to get the job done,” Pennington says, “and that is why the company is thriving.”

On top of this, Pennington and his team are looking into technological advances to help them innovate and stay ahead of the curve. “What we try to do is bring little bits of innovation to our clients. This can be from how they communicate with us or how they raise works orders,” he explains, adding:

“We love exploring new technology and finding practical ways to use it. By embracing developments such as AI and programming interfaces, we can continue improving our services, working more efficiently and creating greater value for our clients.”

Behind the scenes, the company has been integrating AI tools into its scheduling systems, which helps with client contact, appointments and site visits that can be booked in using a programming database. In turn, “this takes a lot of pressure off our administrative team,” Pennington says. This has made an incredible difference when planning routes around London, which often holds the team back when faced with congestion and traffic.

Upon picking up the Pro Landscaper Business Award back in April, Connick Tree Care is happy to be recognised across the arboricultural industry. “It is great to have something specific that we can aim for,” Pennington states. This also helps strengthen trusted relationships with current and potential clients.

Looking towards the future, Connick Tree Care is “constantly tendering for new opportunities and looking to expand,” says Pennington. From new hires to exceptional quality, the company looks to create simple pathways into the industry in a bid to break down barriers surrounding the labour gap. Pennington comments:

“We take on apprentices, pay them a proper rate and create an opportunity that is genuinely appealing. By investing time in training and development, we can make the role more attractive and build a real desire to work in the arboricultural industry.”
