A plea from residents to fell pine trees from a children’s play area near their houses in Dunbar was thrown out by East Lothian Council.
Their petition with 48 signatures failed to find support from the council’s petitions’ committee which met in the Council Chambers, Town House, Haddington, last Thursday.
They had called on the council to remove the pine trees in the play area at Parsonspool, the majority of which are more than 80 years old.
But council leader Willie Innes pledged to meet tree officer Michael Foy to discuss the long-term management of the 19 pine trees.
