Budding business magnates looking for a place to start up their first enterprise are being offered two surplus buildings at Donview.
The Forestry Commission Scotland buildings, an old classroom that was latterly and more famously known as the Loovre Art Gallery, are situated on the south west side of Bennachie Forest.
The two buildings, which are to be leased on a commercial basis, include WC facilities, and the ‘classroom’. The buildings are surrounded by the FCS Donview trails Car park and picnic area, which the business and its visitors will have access to.
Calum Murray, for the Commission’s team in Moray & Aberdeenshire said;
“The buildings are surplus to our requirement and we were thinking about demolishing them but we reckon there’s another life left in them yet.
“It’s potentially a great little facility. Overlooking the River Don and backing on to the Millstone Hill and Bennachie, they’re also right next to our car park and the start point for the trails.
“We imagine the building which would make a great arts studio, a base for an outdoor group, start point for an outdoor activities company or even a coffee shop. As long as the proposed use fits well with what’s already there and is able to pay its own way then we’re happy to consider all ideas.”
The date of entry will be January 2015 so the venture can be up and running for the spring influx of visitors. Any tenant will be expected to have the resources to manage the operation and maintenance requirements of the buildings.
The rent will be negotiated on a commercial basis and it is envisaged that the term will be for between three to five years.
Viewings can be arranged with Brian Stacey, Estates Forester on 01224 440719 or at brian.stacey@forestry.gsi.gov.uk and expressions of interest must be lodged by 1 September.
