Barcham Trees’ Keith Sacre will be the sole speaker from the United Kingdom at “Chesapeake Green 2018”, an annual horticultural symposium now in its 15th year to be held at the Maritime Institute, Linthicum Heights, Maryland, USA, on 20 and 20 February 2018. The event attracts a varied audience of nursery staff, landscapers, greenhouse growers, garden centre owners, plus turf and nutrient management professionals.
Sacre’s presentation Tree Production, Within and Beyond the Nursery Gates will focus on Barcham’s containerised tree production and how Barcham has moved beyond conventional tree nursery work into urban forestry and close involvement in the production of the new British Standard, BS 8545, Trees from Nursery to Independence in the Landscape.
He will also discuss the development and implementation of a voluntary biosecurity policy, and the development of Barcham’s nursery benchmark system, plus several other initiatives unique to Barcham Trees. His session will conclude with a discussion on how a wide understanding of tree nursery production methods and the setting of the highest standards are critical if resilient and sustainable urban forests are to be maintained.
Keith Sacre, who is also chairman of the Arboricultural Association, has made several recent presentations to tree care profession around the world, and will also be presenting in Canada in June. He has also attracted a wide range of international speakers to lead seminars at Barcham’s Cambridgeshire nursery, which are provided free-of-charge to professional arborists.
